Guess What I Did!

I love my husband to pieces, but we agree on very little entertainment-wise. Except for a few classical pieces and a little bit of Celtic folk, we can't stand each other's musical choices. He thinks classic rock is the only thing worth listening too and I'd prefer not to listen to the same tired old stuff day in and day out. I prefer more of an alterna-folk kinda sound.

I like musicals - he hates them. I like period pieces - he hates them. He likes sitcoms - I hate them. He likes sports - I hate them. You get the picture. However, we are both geeks at heart and love sci-fi, fantasy and Monty Python. In fact, The Holy Grail is one of our favorite movies.

Well, yesterday I did something I haven't done in ages - went to a live theatre production! Hubby surprised me with tickets to Spamalot as an early anniversary present. It was so sweet and entirely unexpected. I'd wanted to see the touring production desperately, but I really couldn't see spending the money - needless to say, I about fell over when he gave me the tickets.

The show was wonderful - absolutely hilarious. We laughed like idiots and had a blast together. It was a lovely surprise and I'm so thrilled he decided to do it. The show and the company were awesome.

If you like Monty Python and you get a chance to see Spamalot - do it!

Is it summer vacation yet?

I. Can't. Wait. For. Summer. Break.

It's been field trip and school project-o-ramma time here at the Green household.

Two weeks ago Killian and the eighth graders took a field trip to Notre Dame.

Last week he and 75 other 13 and 14 year-olds went to Washington DC for a week.

This week, Corwin had Medieval Day at school. He had to create a character from the middle ages, write a monologue about his life, memorize it, come up with a costume and props and perform it. Guess what we did all week? On the morning of the performance, my mom and I did a drop spindle spinning demonstration for all 75 fourth graders (she was the spinner, I just Vanna-ed stuff.)

After all the performances were finished, about 12 other moms and I set up a medieval feast for all of the kids and the principal and vice principal who dressed up as the Lord and Lady of the castle. There were fruits and vegetables of course, almond pudding and of course bread trenchers filled with stew. After the kids ate, they danced and performed little skits for the Lord and Lady. It was adorable! And exhausting - at least for the moms anyway!

Next week the eighth graders are going to Little Mexico (and awesome restaurant) where they'll be practicing their Spanish language skills. I'll be going along on that field trip, but I'll be skipping the one two days later to the ballpark to see a baseball game. So not my thing.

Eight and a half more days of school. And a book to finish before school ends.

An Important Warning

I thought long and hard about blogging about this topic but I decided that enough people read this blog that it might make a difference to a family somewhere.

A few weeks ago, the only child of some people we know strangled on her swing in their backyard and has spent the last few weeks in a coma. This past Friday she died. Understandably, her parents are beside themselves with grief. She was only five years old.

I mention this not to horrify you, but because this is the kind of thing that can truly happen to anyone. This beautiful, vibrant little girl was adored by her parents. She wasn't neglected - her mom was even outside at the time of the accident.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'd considered not blogging about this, but since she died, I've been having recurring nightmares were every child I know strangles to death on a swing. Every night, all night long one child after another. In the last few dreams, I saw a VW microbus, so I figured I should go ahead and post this warning.

So if you have kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews, students or neighbor kids please remind them every day - every five minutes if you have to - not to twist on their swings. Yes, it's fun. I remember doing it is a kid, but it's not safe. Please warn the children in your life, protect them, help prevent another family from suffering this kind of pain and desolation.

What's New? It's Katie Blu

So, I read a great book today. I liked it so much I thought I'd see if the author minded a brief flogging - luckily Ms. Blu was ready and willing. (Sheesh...she sounds a bit kinky, doesn't she?)

So Katie,

So what do you enjoy doing in your spare time? I don't have much spare time. I work insane hours for an equally insane employer who get his bloody knickers in a twist if you spend office time taking care of personal business. Imagine the audacity! Truthfully I work with stained glass to bridge the gap between work and play.

Do you have any unique or unusual talents? If there is a way to catch a heel and fall on my face, I will find a way to accomplish it. Blood Oath.

Who are some of your favorite authors? Right, I reckon this is where I say Bronwyn Green? No, you're a right cobber. I actually do enjoy your books, mate. Yours and I'm a big fan of Anny Cook, Brynn Paulin as well as fellow aussies Amarinda Jones and Katie Blu.

What inspired Surprised by Desire? The unseasonably dry weather perhaps? The sexy neighbor boy who rushes out to help me with my wheelie bin on trash days. I think I shall send him a download to see if he gets my meaning.

What are you working on now? Something different for me. I'm hot into a m/m novella with vampires, werewolves, and a prophesy. I'm rather enjoying this one.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing a bit about yourself and your newest release!

Surprised by Desire by Katie Blu

Jenna Michaels is back in town at her mother’s bidding trying to make it through another family vacation with the Nolans like they used to have. The neighbors are long time friends and now that David Nolan is divorced, her mother and his are trying to make a match. But it isn’t David who heats her blood, it’s Jason Nolan and it catches her completely off guard. Little does she realize, one of the Nolan men has had Jenna in his sights for a long time... and he's ready to play.
Excerpt:
The pitch black cave offered endless darkness and no whisper of light. The absolute black was probably one of the creepiest things she recalled about these tours. If she remembered correctly, the slope she’d slid from was to her back now with David, Garth and Jason in front of her. Small caves and indents dotted the walls of the huge central cavern they were in. That would put her mom and Mona above her on the plateau Jenna had failed to scale.

Jenna side-stepped toward the nearest indent. This close to the slope, she knew she’d stumble again without light if she stayed put. Her hand brushed against warm, hard cotton. A shirt, she supposed, based on the height. The sharp inhalation of breath from the owner of the shirt had her sending a whispered apology.

Her wrist was locked in the steely grip of a man’s hand. Jenna was pulled forward with a jerk. Her body slammed hard into firm, flat plains of hot male from shoulder to hip. She gasped at the unexpected intimate contact. Her nipples beaded wantonly. His long, thick ridge of arousal pressed her abdomen but whose? Was it Garth? Jason? Or David?

She didn’t have time to debate the issue. A hand fisted in her hair, dragging her to her toes. Warm, searching lips found hers. His tongue dipped inside to ravage her mouth and rub wickedly along her tongue. Oh God. Whoever’s lips were plundering hers knew what they were doing. Heat coiled low and persistently making her core quicken and moisture pool between her legs.

Jenna’s sweet acquiescing murmur nearly buckled his knees. Fuck, she tasted good. Her hands curled on his waist and his chest. The contact sparked his pulse and throbbed the length of his cock. His tongue tangled with hers. Though she’d started off in surprise, her interest picked up. He’d made arrangements for the lights to be killed and intended to make the most of it.
His fingers caught her jeans button and snapped it open. Wiggle room, he thought. His hands trembled slightly. He released her hair, dropping his hand to her waist. He took his time stroking up her side until he covered her breast. Her nipple poked his palm through her shirt. He resisted the urge to groan. Instead, he sucked her bottom lip and dropped kisses to the spot where her neck curved to her shoulder.

Jenna shivered in his arms and her breathing sounded ragged. His thumb stroked over her pebbled tip. On another long hungry shudder, she pressed her forehead on his shoulder.
His other hand dipped easily inside her jeans, beneath the flimsy satin panties. Jenna struggled for only a second, stiffened and nearly pulled away. His fingers stroked her folds and her nipple simultaneously.

“Gotta touch you Jenna. Gotta touch your wet pussy,” he whispered in her ear.

Jenna stopped struggling.

His fingers found her slick pearl. Taking it between his finger and thumb he rolled it, mirroring his actions with her nipple. Her mouth parted on his shoulder. Between her muffled panting and the moans he could feel against his shoulder, he rejoiced in giving her pleasure.

Jenna’s hips thrust into his hand. He slipped his pinky into her slick channel. Her convulsions were beginning. He pinched her clit hard on a roll. Jenna gave a long low, audible moan which vibrated through him. His own hips jerked in response as he came in his jeans while her pussy wetly sucked his pinky.

“Oh God, Jenna,” he murmured in her ear. “You made me come.”

“Jenna, honey? Are you okay? You didn’t fall down and twist your ankle did you? Sweetie?”
Jenna’s mom whined from on high.

“Fine, Mom,” he heard her gasp.

“Are you sure? Sounds like you’re trying not to cry. Are you scared? Honey, David’s down there with you. Don’t be scared.”

He chuckled softly beside her ear. His hand left her sated folds and she could feel him lifting his arm, so close they stood. She caught the faint scent of her muskiness on his hand as it came near her face. Her secret partner inhaled sharply around a soft sucking noise. He moaned as though he tasted the sweetest honey. “Your pussy juice tastes good, honey.”

Jenna shivered. “Fine, I said,” she called to her mother.

“David?” her mother screeched.

Her lover stepped away from Jenna, separating himself from her delectable body.

“Here, Kathy. We’re all fine down here.” David said.

“Are you sure? Sounded like Jenna was whimpering and gasping.”

Spring...tra la la

After dropping my kids off at school, I took the long way home through orchard country. It was one of those damp, misty mornings that I like so much and I noticed how much spring - in the country, at least - looks like an Impressionistic painting.

All the barely opened leaves that look like tiny fists unfolding, and the grey sky that peeks through the not-quite-opened leaves and branches reminded me of virtually every Impressionistic landscape I've ever seen. Now, I'll admit, I'm not terribly fond of that style of art, but in nature, it's astonishing.

My favorite flowers come up in the Spring - daffodils, violets, grape hyacinths, myrtle, lilacs, lilies of the valley. Unfortunately the lilacs and the lilies of the valley haven't fully bloomed yet, but here are some pictures from my yard of the others. We don't have a garden or anything due to our appalling lack of Yard Morals, but I do enjoy the flowers when they come up.
